Honouring Indigenous Voices on National Indigenous Peoples Day

This Saturday, we mark National Indigenous Peoples Day. It’s a time to pause, reflect, and celebrate the cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous communities across Canada.

As a Canadian Indigenous-founded, run, and owned company, we feel a responsibility that extends far beyond our technological contributions. In recent months, we’ve been privileged to sit on several panels and podcasts to provide the unique Indigenous perspectives as a Responsible AI company. These moments remind us why we carry this torch. We are honoured to represent Indigenous voices at the AI table. It is important to ensure we have a seat at the table shaping and guiding AI’s future for our collective benefit.

Over the last year, kama.ai has continued our effort to be at the forefront of ensuring the Indigenous peoples of Canada do not experience another digital divide; AI must not be a new form of colonization. It is here to benefit all people.  Our goals are clear: amplify Indigenous voices, protect authenticity, and help create AI that respects and includes Indigenous voices and ways of knowing.

Today, we honour our Elders, knowledge keepers, youth, and Indigenous innovators everywhere. For Indigenous Day, let us all listen, learn, and walk this path of discovery, together.
